The U.S. Embassy in Montevideo is seeking an individual for employment in country for the position of Alternate Cashier/Voucher Examiner in the Financial Management Office. The position will be available o/a May 14, 2007.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be designated Alternate Class B Cashier and will be responsible for all disbursements, replenishments, reporting on and processing cash transactions, during the absence of the principal cashier. Computes travel vouchers and travel advances. Handles the Temporary Quarters Subsistence Allowance (TQSA), the Home Service Transfer Allowance (HSTA), and the Foreign Transfer Allowance (FTA) for all American personnel at post.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Education: High School Diploma is required. Two years of technical education in accounting is required.
Prior Work Experience: Four (4) years of experience performing full time cashier duties, including the accounting of cashier activities is required.
Language Proficiency: Level III (Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Spanish is required. Level III (Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.
Knowledge: Must have good knowledge of computer programs such as word processors, spreadsheets, and other standard office applications is required.
SELECTION PROCESS
U.S. Citizen EFMs and U.S. Veterans will be given preference in hiring over other equally qualified candidates in accordance with current U.S. law and State Department regulations.

1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.3. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a FMA appointment are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their appointment.4. Currently employed NORs hired under Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
